Professional Development

The NRTA provides a wide range of professional development opportunities for staff throughout their career journey from Professional studies for trainee teachers, NQT and Early career courses all the way to developing and supporting headteachers. Full details are listed in the tabs above, with a summary below.

  • Trainee teacher Professional studies: Weekly courses designed to complement trainees experience in school and their university offer.
  • NQT CPD programmes for primary and secondary NQTs (We also offer NQT certification)
  • Creative Teacher Programme (in collaboration with OLEVI, The Centre for Leadership in Teaching & Learning). This is delivered through six 4-hour sessions including learning walks and lesson observations. Courses are offer on 2 school sites to give participants a broader exposure.
  • Outstanding Teacher Programme (in collaboration with OLEVI, The Centre for Leadership in Teaching & Learning). This is delivered through six 4-hour sessions including learning walks and lesson observations. The Course is offered on 2 school sites to give participants abroad experience. The course focuses on how great teachers can start to share their practice.
  • Leadership Programmes (including: NPQ Middle Leadership; NPQ Senior Leadership and the NPQ Headteacher). This is accredited by our partners at University College London. We have facilitated both courses for over 8 years and tracked the development of some of our best local leaders. Although not a requirement of the course we can also facilitate shadowing opportunities for your staff.
  • Directed CPD: We have an extensive range of pre-planned primary and secondary CPD opportunities. Full details are available on our website tab.
